As we approach Lunar New Year next week on January 29th, we wanted to remind the community that it will be a homework free day. Additionally, the day is a cultural holiday for many of our students and will be excused for those that are absent to celebrate the day. Parents should notify the schools in advance if your child will be absent due to a cultural celebration.
Due to the low temperatures and expected ice and snow, Cresskill Schools will be closed tomorrow, January 20. All after school practices and activities are canceled. We wish everyone a happy and safe snow day as well as MLK Day!
We anticipate snow on Sunday, which may impact Monday's schedule. Currently, an early dismissal is planned for Monday so the teachers can participate in professional development in the afternoon. However, if we need to do a delayed opening due to snow, our schedule will shift to follow our two hour delay schedule and school will instead end at our regular time. The professional development for teachers will be rescheduled. This will allow us to get the school day in without using one of our snow days. We will make the decision Sunday evening to ensure adequate notice for Monday.
Thank you to the dozens of special education parents that attended yesterday's meetings on "Building Inclusive Opportunities for Special Education Students". Here is a copy of the presentation: https://shorturl.at/9Ic6v. Additionally, we will send notes from the comment section to special education parents later today.
Thank you to New York Life Insurance for holding a training for our counselors and administrators on grief sensitivity and support. Additionally, New York Life is providing $2000 ($500 per school) to help support our counseling programs. We appreciate New York Life's partnership in supporting our students!
As we get closer to the wet winter weather, it is time for an emergency notification drill for the community to ensure your emergency contact information is up to date. We will send out a notification on Wednesday at 2 PM via email, text, and voice. In order to receive these notifications, your contact information must be undated in Genesis by tomorrow evening. Thank you for your cooperation.
Thank you to the 50+ families that attended last night's Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG). The CEF is looking for your support this year as we bring back The Concert for the Arts after a 5 year hiatus (due to the pandemic, the flood, and the rebuilding of the auditorium).
A night not to be missed, the CEF invites professional musicians to help raise funds for the arts in our schools. Some items you may have noticed, Ukuleles for the 4th graders, easels for the art department, Three upright basses for the orchestra, microphones, and new spotlights for the auditorium.
Featuring artists on some of the biggest stages in NYC, such as The NY Philharmonic, The Metropolitan Opera, and Broadway, The Concert for the Arts, is a great way to see and hear incredible talent right here. No schlepping into the city, free parking, and no tolls!
Join us for our 16th concert on November 18th at 7PM @CHS

We will be conducting non-emergency evacuation drills to an off-site location at some time over the upcoming weeks. Even though we will be not advertising specific dates and times in advance, our police department will be assisting in this process, and they will help ensure that students are safe during the drills. Should you have specific concerns or wish to know more about the process, please reach out to our building administrators.
Please be advised that we are using a very realistic coyote decoy and fencing to help scare the geese away on the EHB field. Additionally, we welcome residents to help chase the geese when convenient to do so. These actions help to prevent further damage to our fields and promote cleanliness.
