Black History Month is in full swing in Cresskill, and we are so grateful to our educators and students that have been planning the month of activities and lessons. This gem of a bulletin board says it all!

Please note that the 2024-2025 School Calendar has been released. However, the Thanksgiving Break was placed in the wrong week. We will be making the correction and post an updated calendar.

Exciting news! Our bill in the NJ Senate, S1892, was passed by the State Senate and signed into law by Governor Murphy. School districts going forward that are impacted by natural disasters will no longer have to wait to borrow funds to rebuild. They can instead get approval by the Commissioner of Education to begin rebuilding sooner. We will be sending thank you letters to the politicians that helped pass this important legislation. This is a reminder that we have a board of education meeting tomorrow, January 22nd at 7 pm. Additionally, the board will be touring the high school facility at 6 pm. The public is welcome to join us at both events.

Cresskill will have a NORMAL school day today. The anticipated snow seems to be consistent this afternoon, indicating that an early dismissal would not ensure greater safety. However, please take your time this afternoon and watch for students as you approach the schools due to the potential for reduced visibility. Let's have a safe day!

Tonight is a Virtual Coffee with the Superintendent at 7 PM. The topic is "Supporting All Students" and will discuss our philosophy of student support and the many ways help is provided when students struggle. We will also review the variety of programs for general education classrooms, special education classrooms, and other ways we support the whole child socially and emotionally. We are remaining on a DELAYED OPENING SCHEDULE. Please allow for extra travel time to ensure safety. We are thankful to our custodians and DPW for their work in clearing the snow to allow for opening.

Cresskill Schools will be on a delayed opening for Tuesday, January 16th due to the expected snow. Please stay safe and take your time if you need to go out.

Congratulations to Erin Fahy, who just scored her 1000th point for the Cresskill Cougars. We are so proud of her accomplishment as she joins our short list of exceptional athletes to make this accomplishment.

In Cresskill, we believe in giving every student what they need, when they need it. Dr. Amato and Dr. Hughes will be hosting a Virtual Coffee on Tuesday, January 16th at 7 PM. This parent night will discuss the many programs in place to help when children struggle or face life challenges. The high school parking lot is clear and we should have a normal opening after the delay. The Tenakill has receeded.

Thanks to an amazing effort of our custodial crew and their management of the water, we will be ready to welcome our students back after the delayed opening. The parking lots are clear of water. Have a safe trip this morning.

Due to the expected rain tomorrow and the Governor calling a State of Emergency, all afterschool activities and athletic events will be canceled tomorrow evening and the buildings will be closed promptly at 4:00 pm. Please stay safe everyone!

There is the potential for heavy rains tomorrow evening that we are monitoring closely. We have upgraded our flood barriers to stay in place 24/7. This new configuration ensures our building is protected at all major ventilation points. However, front parking lot flooding that restricts access is a continuous challenge and may cause delays or even closures. Please know that if it becomes evident that the Tenakill will flood its banks, we will notify you as early as possible.
