Yuval Harari, a senior at CHS, organized our Yom Hashoah activity as a way of remembering the six million Jewish people who were brutally murdered during WWII. In each of our Social Studies classes, students in grades 6-12 walked around the track honoring the bravery and immense courage of the Holocaust’s survivors, as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Our Social Studies teachers shared this video with the students and held discussions around the importance of this day. Yuval’s efforts helped to instill an opportunity for learning about our collective past, as well as reflecting on empathy and different ways to curb hate in our community.
The Six Million Steps program is a unique international effort to preserve the memory of the Holocaust and bring attention to the alarming resurgence of antisemitism in the US and around the world.
